Starter DJ Course for Beginners
For complete beginners who have never touched a set of decks. Learn the kit, beatmatching and your first clean mixes.
This course is for you if…
- You've never DJed, or you've only played around with an app
- You want to learn properly, not pick up bad habits from videos
- You'd like a clear goal: a real set at the end
On the Starter course
- Setting up the kit and finding your way around Rekordbox
- Organising your music and setting cue points
- BPM and beatmatching by ear
- Phrasing: mixing in at the right moment
- Using the EQs for clean, smooth transitions
- Putting together a short set and playing it live
By week eight you'll mix tracks together cleanly, know why a mix works, and play a short set to a real audience.
8 × 90-minute one-to-one sessions, at home or online, and a live graduation set
What a typical Starter course looks like
One 90-minute one-to-one session a week. This is the usual shape; your mentor adapts it to how you learn and the music you love.
Taught by people who actually play out
Every course is taught one-to-one by a working DJ from DJ Archie School's network of 54 mentors across the UK. You're matched with someone near you, or online.
